The Item business object represents something that is bought, sold, stocked, consumed, or used. It provides a central place to maintain item identity, type, status, pricing, unit of measure, image, and notes.

Description

Use the Item object to define the products, components, raw materials, consumables, services, and other items used by your business. It can maintain purchasing and sales pricing, SKU information, status, unit of measure, and supporting item details.

Status and Release Status are intentionally separate and orthogonal: Status tracks the item's operational/physical state (e.g. Active, Deployed, Loaned, Broken), while Release Status tracks its engineering release/change-control stage (Draft, Under Review, Approved, Active, Obsolete, Archived) for design-controlled parts and products, matching the lifecycle vocabulary used on the BOM object.
