Workspace vs Data View

AnyDB gives you two complementary ways to work with your data: Workspace and Data View. They access the same records but serve different purposes. To switch between the views, use the toggle button at the top left of the main panel.

Workspace vs Data View Toggle

Workspace View

The Workspace view is where you organize everything the way your team works in real life. You control the structure.

Workspace view

What you can do

  • Create folders and subfolders to group related records, files, or pages.
  • Store documents, media, and forms alongside your records.
  • Build project or client specific spaces.
  • Mix structured and unstructured content.

Use Workspace when you want to organize how you work. It’s flexible, visual, and ideal for operations, projects, departments, or clients.

Workspace gives you the organizational freedom similar to tools like Mac Finder, Windows File Explorer, Dropbox, Google Drive etc.

Data View

The Data View shows all your records in a clean, flat layout organized by template. Instead of browsing folders, you can jump straight into the data.

Data View layout

What you can do

  • Browse all records grouped by template (Orders, Customers, Shipments, etc.).
  • Filter, search, and sort across your entire database.
  • Switch between templates with one click.
  • Access Automations and Forms connected to each template.

Use Data View when you want to work with the data itself. It’s structured, consistent, and ideal for editing, analysis, and automation.

How They Work Together

Both Workspace and Data View operate on the same underlying data.

  • Records created in Workspace appear in Data View.
  • Records added in Data View show up immediately in Workspace.
  • No duplication, no syncing, no confusion.

Workspace is how you organize. Data View is what you have.
