Designing the Record Layout
The Type Designer uses a flexible grid. Rows, columns, cell sizes, and spans let you shape a record around the work it supports.
Design for the person using the record
A practical layout usually follows this order:
- identity and current status
- frequently edited business information
- relationships and supporting details
- files, comments, history, or less frequent information
Use space to communicate importance. Give key fields enough room, keep labels close to their values, and avoid making people scan across a wide layout for related information.
Check the layout at the screen sizes your team actually uses. A record that looks balanced in the designer should also remain readable during everyday viewing and editing.
